The NCC is the largest uniformed youth organization of the Indian Armed Forces with its headquarters in New Delhi, India. The NCC in India was formed under the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948. NCC is a Tri-Service Organization, comprising Army, Navy and Air wing. It is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over India. The NCC is intended to inculcate national spirit, discipline and a sense of duty among the students. The NCC provides ample opportunities to develop one’s physical and intellectual potentials through training camps.
Cadets enrolled in NCC can participate in institutional training and can participate in adventure activities, community development programmes, various national level and annual training camps; youth exchange programmes, sports and cultural activities etc. Also, the NCC cadets take part in basic military training in small arms and parades.
At present, in our college, the NCC (Army Wing) unit is affiliated to 26, Assam Battalion NCC, Digboi with its Group Head Quarters at Dibrugarh under the NER NCC Directorate, Shillong.
The total strength of the unit is 148 cadets, both SD (Boys) and SW (Girls). The unit is headed by ANO Lt. Dr. Kanchan Konwar, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics.
