On 14th June 2023 the NSS Unit of Digboi College, celebrated Blood Donor’s Day by donating 103 units of blood at Digboi College. It was jointly organised with Battalion of Indian Army, Digboi and Blood Bank of Assam Medical College & Hospital, Dibrugarh in association with CISF IOCL Digboi, Student Union, Red Ribbon Club, NSS Alumni Association and IQAC of Digboi College. The programme was anchored by Debopriya Debnath, NSS volunteer. Mr. Rajib Rudra Tariang, Programme Officer of NSS Digboi College Unit delivered the purpose of the meeting. Dr. Dip Saikia, Principal Digboi College inaugurated the blood donation camp by imparting his valuable speech on the theme, “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often.”. Dr. Arun Chandra Dutta, Vice-Principal, Digboi College, delivered his speech on the occasion and appreciated NSS Digboi College Unit.
Commanding Officer of the Digboi Battalion of Indian Army, Colonel KSH John Singh, Captain Tomthin, Sri P.R. Dewakar, Asst. Commandant, Sri Surjit Singh, SI/Exe, Sri Narayan Dutta, ASI/Exe of CISF IOCL, Digboi were also present. Dr. Kabari Neog, Medical Officer, Pathologist, have concluded her speech on importance of blood donation and also explained elaborated the benefits towards donating blood. Fresh blood is produced immediately by our bone marrow and it makes a blood donor’s a fresh and active life after a while and as per norms, one can donate blood again after 3 months. The Blood donors were faculties, students, staffs, army and CISF personals. Dr. Darshana Pathak and Dr. Julie Saikia, of Pathology Department of AMCH and Mr. Arup Jyoti Khatoniar, Social Worker of the Blood Bank, along with other staff members were also present on this event.
