The Department of Philosophy of Digboi College launched its journey in 1965 as a major and general course. It is situated in the main building of the college. The Department offers Honour and Generic Courses. There are at present 50 (fifty) seats for Honours and 40 (forty) seats for Generic course. There are 3 (three) permanent faculty members in the Department. Every year students from different places like Balijan, Borjan, Sadiya, Bardumsa, Joyrampur, Pengeri, Lakhipathar, etc. come to study in the Department. The Department has produced innumerable students in both Major and General courses throughout the years. Many students of the Department have established themselves in various sectors.
Besides teaching, the Department organizes field trips, popular talks, seminars, etc. The students can express their views independently through their writing in the wall magazine, and teachers guide them properly in this regard. The teachers are always ready to render all possible assistance and guidance to students within and outside the campus as and when required. Consequently, students get through the final examination with flying colors every year and go for further higher studies.
