Department of ZOOLOGY

Established in 1965 with Prof. U Konwar as the founder Head, the department of Zoology is one of the highly rated departments of Digboi College. Department started UG Programme since its inception and started Honours programme in Zoology since 1993 under Dibrugarh University. The department has attained a milestone by introducing Masters Programme in Life Sciences along with the Department of Botany in the year 2021.

The department has a glorious past with the contribution of three retired Professors by witnessing excellent results in the previous years by claiming positions under the top ten in Dibrugarh University. The department currently has five dedicated faculties that are in constant effort to offer quality education and overall grooming of the students with human values to cope with the current competitive world. The department had produced numerous graduates who now hold several portfolios in Govt. and Non-Govt. sectors. The department is proud of some notable students who are engaged in novel research work in reknown laboratories of India and abroad.

The well-equipped laboratories, ICT classrooms, Flip classroom for teaching, departmental library, etc. provide the students a good ambiance for theory as well as practical learning of various dimensions of Zoology. Nearly 70% of the college campus is surrounded by greenery as it is situated adjacent to Dihing Patkai National Park and witnesses a huge diversity of butterflies, moths, birds, amphibia, reptiles and mammals, which seems to be Paradise for Zoologist.

The dedication, cooperation, and teamwork of teachers, students, and office staff of our department always go hand in hand with providing the zeal of learning and doing the best in overall, as we believe that “Sky is the Limit”!!!
